SINGA K: The Voice, The Journey, The Legacy
THE VOICE
Every great artist has a story. Some begin under the bright lights of a stage, while others begin in communities where music is more than entertainment. It is a way of life.
For Mikinie Dunn, professionally known as Singa K, that story began in Waterhouse, Jamaica.
Born in one of Jamaica’s culturally significant musical communities and raised in Saint Andrew, Singa K grew up surrounded by the rhythms, melodies, and traditions that have made Jamaican music influential across the world.
From an early age, music became an essential part of his identity.
At sixteen, he relocated to the United States, carrying with him the musical influences of his homeland and a determination to establish himself as a respected Jamaican recording artist.
Years later, that ambition continues to drive his creative journey.
Today, Singa K is a versatile reggae singer and songwriter whose musical identity extends beyond any single genre. His sound blends reggae, dancehall, R&B, soul, ballads, and revival music, creating a distinctive musical experience that reflects both his Jamaican heritage and his appreciation for different styles of music.
His powerful vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and commitment to meaningful lyrics have helped shape an artist determined to leave a lasting impression.
For Singa K, music is not simply about recording songs.
It is about connecting with people, preserving culture, and delivering messages that resonate long after the music stops.
SHARING STAGES WITH REGGAE AND DANCEHALL LEGENDS
Throughout his musical career, Singa K has had opportunities that many aspiring Jamaican artists dream of experiencing.
He has opened shows and performed alongside internationally recognized musicians, including:
Capleton, Sanchez, Tony Rebel, Shabba Ranks, Vybz Kartel, Baby Cham, Mr. Vegas, and Elephant Man.
These experiences have provided more than opportunities to perform before enthusiastic audiences.
They have given him valuable lessons about professionalism, discipline, consistency, and the responsibility that comes with entertaining people.
Sharing stages with established performers has also strengthened his appreciation for the generations of Jamaican musicians who helped bring reggae and dancehall to international audiences.
Yet, despite these accomplishments, Singa K remains focused on something more personal than recognition.
He wants his music to reach people.
He wants listeners to connect with his words.
And most importantly, he wants his musical contributions to carry meaning.
For an artist who began his journey surrounded by Jamaica’s rich musical culture, every stage represents another opportunity to share that heritage with the world.

AN EXCLUSIVE CONVERSATION WITH SINGA K
Great music tells stories, but understanding the person behind the music adds another dimension to the experience.
For this exclusive LFM Artist Spotlight, we invited Singa K to reflect on his Jamaican upbringing, musical influences, career accomplishments, and aspirations for the future.
His responses reveal an artist who values authenticity, respects his musical heritage, and understands that meaningful success requires consistency and dedication.
1. YOUR JOURNEY: WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
LFM: How did your musical journey begin, and what inspired you to become a singer?
SINGA K:
“My journey began from an early age surrounded by the rich musical culture of Jamaica. Music wasn’t just something I listened to; it was the heartbeat of my community and daily life. Hearing great singers and feeling how music could uplift people inspired me to find my own voice. Moving to the United States at sixteen expanded my horizons even more, but that initial fire rooted in the sounds, rhythms, and soul of home is what pushed me to pursue singing professionally.”
2. YOUR MUSIC: THE POWER BEHIND THE MESSAGE
LFM: What inspires your music, and what message do you want people to receive from your songs?
SINGA K:
“Everyday life, real relationships, and spiritual resilience inspire my sound. Because I draw from reggae, R&B, soul, ballads, and revival music, I don’t believe in putting myself in a single box. Whether it’s an emotional connection on tracks like ‘Love U Girl’ or the spiritual strength in ‘Praying,’ the message I want listeners to take away is power, wisdom, and love. I want my music to make people feel uplifted, understood, and ready to face whatever comes their way.”
3. YOUR EXPERIENCE: LESSONS FROM THE JOURNEY
LFM: After so many years in music, what are some of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned along the way?
SINGA K:
“The biggest lesson is consistency and staying true to your authentic voice. The industry evolves constantly, but people will always connect with genuine emotion and empowering lyrics. Performing alongside legends like Capleton, Sanchez, Tony Rebel, and Shabba Ranks taught me discipline, stage presence, and respect for the craft. You have to put in the work behind the scenes so that when you touch the stage, the energy is undeniable.”
4. YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS: MOMENTS THAT MATTER
LFM: What has been your proudest moment as an artist?
SINGA K:
“Sharing stages with giants who helped shape the culture artists like Sanchez, Vybz Kartel, Baby Cham, and Capleton—has definitely been an honor. But on a personal level, seeing my music connect directly with the people brings me the greatest pride. Hearing tracks like ‘Lonely’ resonating in Caribbean clubs across Miami and watching an audience sing back words I wrote from the heart is the ultimate reward.”
5. YOUR ROOTS: THE PLACE THAT SHAPED YOU
LFM: Where in Jamaica were you born and raised?
SINGA K:
“I was born in Waterhouse, a legendary cradle of Jamaican sound system culture and incredible vocal talent, and raised in Saint Andrew until I was sixteen before moving to the States. Those roots gave me my foundation and will always be a part of the energy I bring to the mic.”
6. YOUR FUTURE: WHAT’S NEXT FOR SINGA K?
LFM: What are your plans for your music, and what can fans expect next?
SINGA K:
“Fans can expect new releases, visual projects, and more live performances. I’m continuously in the studio writing, pushing boundaries, and blending dancehall and reggae with soulful melodies. The goal is to reach broader international stages, keep dropping music that gets the clubs moving, and deliver meaningful records that stand the test of time.”
7. YOUR LEGACY: MORE THAN JUST MUSIC
LFM: How would you like people to remember Singa K and his contributions to music?
SINGA K:
“I want to be remembered as a versatile, timeless artist who stayed true to Jamaican culture while touching people across the globe. When people look back at Singa K, I want them to think of a unique voice that brought positive energy, uplifted spirits, and left behind a catalog full of heart, power, and substance.”
